Badger Control Update

The Government has yesterday announced that, at the request of the NFU, it has postponed badger control operations in the pilot areas of West Somerset and West Gloucestershire to Summer 2013.

The government remains committed to its policy of badger control in order to tackle bTB in cattle, and Defra has agreed to postpone the pilot culls until summer 2013 to allow farmers to continue their preparations and have the best possible chance of carrying out the cull effectively. A copy of Defra’s announcement is available on its website.
