six non-executive directors who will join the Chair Bill Fullagar, as
the first non-executive Board of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT).
Rosie Winterton, said: 'I am delighted that NHS Blood and Transplant
will be able to draw upon such a wealth of expertise from the public

The six non-executive directors will take up their new role when
NHSBT is established on 1 October.
Welsh Health Minister, Dr Brian Gibbons, added: "The Welsh Assembly
Government welcomes the appointment of the non-executive directors
and the particular skills and expertise that they will bring to the
new Organisation which has such significant responsibilities for the
provision of blood and transplant services.'

"I am very pleased that the Scottish dimension of NHSBT's functions
in relation to transplantation has been recognised by the appointment

skilled group of people to the new organisation. Between them they
bring awareness of patients' needs, understanding as Directors of UKT
and the NBA, relevant knowledge of transplantation and haematology,
and experience in managing complex organisations. I very much look
forward to working with the new Board to ensure NHSBT is in a strong
position to face future challenges."

of the Department of Health's arms length bodies. It is being created
from the merger of UK Transplant and the National Blood Authority.
