CROWN APPOINTMENT: GUERNSEY

The Queen, on the recommendation of the Lord Chancellor, has been
pleased to approve the appointment of Mr John Nikolas van Leuven to
be Her Majesty's Procureur of Guernsey in succession to Mr Geoffrey
Robert Rowland QC.
Mr van Leuven will take up his appointment in the autumn 2002.
Note for editors:
Mr van Leuven was born in Guernsey in 1947 and educated at Elizabeth
College. He studied law at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He was called to
the English Bar in 1971 when he became an advocate in private
practice. From 1983 to 2002 he has been a senior partner in one of
Guernsey's principal legal firms.
