Witness appeal
The Police Complaints Authority is to supervise the inquiry into the
death of a man in South Kilburn.
Metropolitan Police Service officers went to an address in John
Ratcliffe House, Chippenham Gardens, London NW6 at 2.15 pm yesterday
to speak with a man. The Metropolitan Police say that they had not
entered the address but were in the communal hallway when a man
climbed out of and subsequently fell from the seventh-storey window.
The London Ambulance Service and the air ambulance attended. The man
who fell, Mr Martin Amber aged 19, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police Service voluntarily referred the incident for
supervision by the PCA. Authority member Mr Leo Pilkington has agreed
to the appointment of Detective Chief Inspector Tony Evans of the
Metropolitan Police Directorate of Professional Standards as the
investigating officer.
Mr Pilkington said: "Anyone who has information on this tragic
incident, or can assist the police with the inquiry, should call
020-8785 8168. This will enable us to find out exactly what happened,
on behalf of H M Coroner."
