ASSEMBLY AT WESTMINSTER HALL
By 10.40 a.m.
The Bearer Party of the Irish Guards arrive at Westminster Hall.
Between 10.45 a.m. and 10.50 a.m.
The Pall Bearers and the General Officer Commanding London District,
together with his Staff, arrive in New Palace Yard via Whitehall and
wait outside the North Door.
By 10.50 a.m.
A Guard of Honour found by Nijmegen Company, Grenadier Guards, with
the Royal Standard of the Regiment and the Band of the Regiment,
under the command of Major Martin David, Grenadier Guards, is formed
up in Parliament Square facing the gates of New Palace Yard.
10.50 a.m..
Members of the Royal Family walking in the Procession arrive via
Whitehall and assemble inside the North Door.
11.00 a.m.
The Royal Family move to the North East corner of the Catafalque. The
Lord Great Chamberlain, the Lord Chancellor and the Speaker then take
up their positions to the North of the Catafalque.
11.02 a.m.
The Bearer Party leaves the North Door of Westminster Hall and moves
to the South of the Catafalque. The last Vigil of the Watch, found by
the Irish Guards, leaves the Catafalque and forms up on the West side
of Westminster Hall. The Bearer Party then moves to the Catafalque.
By 11.03 a.m.
The Detachments marching in the Procession are formed up on the East
and South sides of Parliament Square. A Gun Carriage of The King's
Troop Royal Horse Artillery is positioned outside the North Door. The
Pall Bearers and the General Officer Commanding London District and
his Staff take up their respective positions in front of and beside
the Gun Carriage in New Palace Yard.
11.05 a.m.
The Bearer Party lift the Coffin from the Catafalque and, preceded by
the Lord Great Chamberlain, the Lord Chancellor and the Speaker,
carry the Coffin to the Gun Carriage outside the North Door. Those
following the Coffin out of Westminster Hall take up their positions
behind the Gun Carriage in the Procession which forms up in New
Palace Yard.
PROCESSION FROM WESTMINSTER HALL TO WESTMINSTER ABBEY
The Coffin is taken in Procession from the North Door of Westminster
Hall to the Great West Door of Westminster Abbey.
The Processional route is:-

11.18 a.m.
The Procession leaves from outside the North Door of Westminster Hall
for the Great West Door of Westminster Abbey. As the Procession moves
off the Guard of Honour gives a Royal Salute.
ARRIVAL AT WESTMINSTER ABBEY
9.45 a.m.
The Doors of Westminster Abbey are opened.
By 10.30 a.m.
The General Congregation is seated.
By 10.35 a.m.
A representative Detachment of Her Majesty's Ships, Regiments, Corps
and Royal Air Force affiliations, including those from overseas, take
up their positions on each side of the pathway between the West Gate
and the Great West Door.
Between 10.35 a.m. and 10.45 a.m.
Heads of State, National Representatives, Governors-General and other
prominent persons arrive at the Great West Door and are conducted by
Gentlemen Ushers to their places in the Quire, the Lanterns, and the
North Transept.
By 10.50 a.m.
Members of the Royal Family who are not walking in the Procession
will arrive at the Grand Entrance of Buckingham Palace by way of the
North Centre Gate.
By 10.50 a.m.
The Dean and Chapter of Westminster, having entered the Abbey by the
Samaria Door, take up their positions at the Great West Door. 10.50
a.m.
Her Majesty's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard, followed by The
Queen's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen- at-Arms,
having entered by the East Cloister Door, move by way of the South
Quire Aisle, the South Nave Aisle, the West end of the Nave and the
Centre Aisle to their positions in the Nave, the Quire and the
Lanterns.
Between 10.50 a.m. and 10.55 a.m.
Members of Foreign Royal Families arrive at the Great West Door by
way of Victoria Street and are conducted by Gentlemen Ushers to St.
George's Chapel.
11.00 a.m.
The following leave the Quadrangle of Buckingham Palace and drive in
a Car Procession by way of the Centre Arch, the Centre Gate of the
Forecourt, Queen's Gardens (South side), Birdcage Walk, Storey's Gate
and Broad Sanctuary to Westminster Abbey:- The Buckingham Palace
Detachment of The Queen's Guard is turned out in the Forecourt and
gives a Royal Salute.
11.05 a.m.
Members of the Royal Family arrive by car at the Great West Door of
Westminster Abbey and are received by the Dean and Chapter. They are
conducted by Gentlemen Ushers to St. George's Chapel.
11.07 a.m.
The Visiting Clergy enter the Abbey by way of the Samaria Door and
move in Procession by way of the Centre Aisle to their places in the
Sacrarium.

11.10 a.m.
Members of the Royal Family, Members of Foreign Royal Families and
Members of the Family of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother move in
procession to their seats in the Lantern.

11.12 a.m.
The Queen leaves Buckingham Palace and drives by car to Westminster
Abbey The Buckingham Palace Detachment of The Queen's Guard is turned
out in the Forecourt and gives a Royal Salute.
11.16 a.m.
The Queen, with those in Attendance, arrives at the West Entrance
Gate and is received by the Dean of Westminster. The Dean will
conduct Her Majesty to the Great West Door where he presents the
Chapter.
11.18 a.m.
The Queen and others in the Procession are conducted by the Lord
Chamberlain, by way of the Centre Aisle, to their seats in the
Lantern.

11.20 a.m.
The Massed Pipes and Drums leading the Funeral Procession from
Westminster Hall enter Victoria Street, countermarch and halt. When
The Queen's Procession has left the West end of the Nave the Dean and
Chapter move to the Centre of the Great West Door to await the
arrival of the Coffin.
11.21 a.m.
The Choir of Westminster Abbey enters the Abbey by the West Cloister
Door and moves in Procession by way of the South Nave Aisle to the
West end of the Nave. The Insignia Bearers take their positions
inside the Great West Door on the South side.
11.25 a.m.
The Gun Carriage halts outside the West Gate. The Pall Bearers take
their places on each side of the Pathway between the West Gate and
the Great West Door. The Bearer Party removes the Coffin from the Gun
Carriage.
11.30 a.m.
The Coffin is carried by the Bearer Party in Procession through the
Great West Door and thereafter by way of the Centre Aisle to the
Catafalque in the Lantern. The Lord Chamberlain to Queen Elizabeth
The Queen Mother, Garter King of Arms and Lord Lyon King of Arms join
the Procession inside the Great West Door.

The General Officer Commanding London District follows the Procession
into Westminster Abbey. Those in the Procession take their places in
the Sacrarium and the Lantern. The Bearer Party places the Coffin on
the Catafalque and leaves the Lantern by way of the South Transept.
DEPARTURE FROM WESTMINSTER ABBEY
By 12.15 p.m.
The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery will be formed up on the North
side of the Wellington Arch.
12.25 p.m.
At the conclusion of the Service, the Bearer Party comes forward from
under the Quire Screen to the Lantern and lift the Coffin from the
Catafalque. The Coffin is carried in Procession from the Lantern by
way of the Centre Aisle and the Great West Door to the Hearse outside
the West Gate.

As the Coffin passes the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior the Massed Pipes
and Drums, from a position in Broad Sanctuary, play a Lament.
The Prince of Wales and the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne follow
the Coffin from the Great West Door and move to their positions
outside the West Gate, on the South side.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh with those following in the
Procession wait at the Great West Door to watch the Departure of the
Coffin for Windsor.
12.30 p.m.
The Bearer Party places the Coffin in the Hearse and moves to a
position to the South of the West Gate.
12.35 p.m.
The Car Procession leaves Westminster Abbey for St. George's Chapel,
Windsor Castle.
