The principal aim of the body is to inspire better quality in design and architecture so that Scotland's built environment contributes in a positive way to Ministers' strategic objectives and the Scottish Government's National Outcomes. Architecture and Design Scotland operates as a Company Limited by Guarantee, funded directly by the Scottish Government.
Members have been re-appointed for one year, while Ministers finalise arrangements to revise the Board structure as recommended in the recent review of the body which was published on April 28.
These re-appointments were made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland's Code of Practice.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.
Eleanor McAllister is a member of the Labour Party, has made a recordable donation to the Party and has canvassed on behalf of the party, or helped at an election, in the last five years.
