CBI responds to go-ahead of EU-US talks

The CBI responded to the go-ahead to officially launch formal EU-US talks on a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

Katja Hall, CBI Chief Policy Director, said:

“It’s great news that we can now finally roll our sleeves up and launch negotiations at the G8.

“The EU and US have a combined population of 800 million, almost half the world’s GDP and 30% of international trade, so successfully concluding a free trade agreement would be a landmark achievement, making a hefty contribution to growth and jobs on both sides of the Atlantic.

“Being at the top table in Europe gives us more influence to secure deals of this size and the chance to build on our role as a global trading hub.”
