The expert Committee 'considered the EFSA draft opinion to be an impressive document, and generally agreed with the conclusions'.
In its draft opinion EFSA proposed a reduced temporary tolerable daily intake (t-TDI) pending the outcome of a long term study currently being undertaken by the National Toxicology Program (NTP) in America. This approach was supported by the COT who 'considered the proposed t-TDI was appropriate'.

When EFSA publishes its opinion on BPA – following consideration of comments received from these consultations – the Food Standards Agency will consider, along with the European Commission and EU member states, whether action is necessary to protect consumers.
