EFSA call to renew panel membership

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has launched a call to renew the membership of its scientific panel on food additives and nutrient sources added to food (ANS) and scientific panel on food contact materials, enzymes, flavourings and processing aids (CEF).

Panels are composed of independent scientific experts from universities, research institutions and national food safety authorities with a thorough knowledge of risk assessment. All members are appointed through an open selection procedure on the basis of proven scientific excellence. This includes experience in risk assessment and peer-reviewing scientific work and publications in the areas of competence and expertise of the scientific panels.

Applicants should have expertise in the following scientific fields:

  • safety assessment of chemical substances
  • toxicology
  • toxicity testing
  • chemistry
  • exposure assessment
  • human nutrition
  • food enzymes including from genetically-modified micro-organisms
  • food technology

Successful applicants will be appointed as a member of one of these panels for a three-year term starting in July 2014.
