ICICI Bank UK Plc Launches a Branch in Leeds

25 Mar 2008 12:56 PM On Thursday, 20th March 2008, ICICI Bank UK Plc, a wholly owned subsidiary of ICICI Bank Ltd, India’s largest private sector bank, opened its ninth branch across Britain in the City of Leeds. Prominent members of the Leeds business community attended the high profile launch of the branch, and Councillor Andrew Carter, Leader of Leeds City Council inaugurated the branch.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Deepak Varghese, Head of Retail Banking of ICICI Bank UK PLC., said: “We are thankful to Mr Carter for inaugurating this branch. Our branch in Leeds will deliver many value added banking products and services to the residents of Leeds. Having the Leader of Leeds City Council here today, signals the importance of our expansion plan into Leeds. I am delighted to report that ICICI Bank is continuing to grow and more importantly our customers are reaping the benefits of our competitive services, across our money transfer, private and business banking solutions.”

Mr. Varghese went on to say: “Our personal and business customers in Leeds are assured that they will receive the very best service, leading innovative products, and the assurance that they’re banking with one of the worlds leading financial institutions.”

He added: “Leeds is known as a hub for several ethnic communities. Its diversity and multi-cultural community will be attracted especially to our money transfer service, which ultimately results in their families getting more money because of the value we provide.”

Simon Hill, Executive Director of Business at Yorkshire Forward, who joined Cllr. Carter at the official launch after the RDA worked with ICICI Bank over the past 12 months to bring them to the region comments: “ICICI Bank played a major role in Indian overseas mergers and acquisitions in 2007. Bringing them to Yorkshire and Humber will help to further develop our relationships with India – which we know is one of the fastest growing global economies.”

He added: “The presence of the bank in the region also demonstrates its diversity of cultural and trade activities and I look forward to seeing more investments of this nature in the future.”

The Leeds branch will be open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Saturday and is located at 293 Roundhay Road, Leeds, LS8 4HN.
