IPCC investigating claims police officer made sexual advances to 17-year-old

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is managing an investigation into claims a Merseyside police officer made sexual advances to a 17-year-old girl he picked up from the street while on duty.

The allegations were made after the girl was driven home by the Pc in a marked police car in the early hours of 7 August.

The accused officer was suspended from duty following a complaint from the girl’s family and the matter was referred to the IPCC by Merseyside police.

James Dipple-Johnstone, the IPCC’s Commissioner for Merseyside, said: "Allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously. We are managing an investigation that is being carried out by Merseyside police to provide confidence to the victim, her family and the public that there has been independent oversight and the investigation is thorough.”
