NHS Confederation Health Bill briefing now available
28 Jan 2011 11:01 AM
A new briefing from the NHS Confederation calls on parliamentarians to analyse and debate the main elements of the Health and Social Care Bill.
NHS Confederation briefing for MPs
Our briefing highlights the main elements of the Government’s Health and Social Care Bill that require further scrutiny to ensure a smooth transition to the new proposed healthcare system.
The briefing comes ahead of the Bill’s Second Reading debate on 31 January.
Since the Bill was published on 19 January, the NHS Confederation has examined it line by line. While we support the objectives of the proposed reforms, areas such as how accountability will work need further clarification if the new healthcare system is to be a success. The areas which require further scrutiny are:
-
-
accountability mechanisms
-
integration, competition and choice
-
the new public health service.
See the briefing for more detail.
Our work to influence the Bill
The NHS Confederation has met a number of MPs since the Bill was published to brief them on the practical issues that need to be addressed in the legislation, and this work will continue in the coming weeks. We will also send written briefings to parliamentarians ahead of every stage of the Bill.
Visit our parliamentary stages web page for more information.
