NICE launches new version of the Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS)

NICE has launched a new version of the Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) service. This new CKS service will upgrade the existing CKS service and will be openly accessible to users in the UK at www.cks.nhs.uk. The service will continue to be aimed at primary care practitioners preparing for, during and following on from patient consultations.

The new CKS service will provide summaries of the best available evidence and practical guidance on best practice in an accessible, easy to use format, covering a full range of primary care presentations for over 300 topics. The service will also be optimised for use on tablets and smart phones.

The service will also introduce up to 10 new primary care topics each year, based on published NICE clinical guidelines, together with an update cycle for existing topics. Some of the new topics already planned for release in 2013 include anxiety, postnatal care and pain and bleeding in early pregnancy.

Dr Martin Duerden, GP and expert advisor on prescribing for the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), said: "CKS is a brilliant product and should be known and used by all GPs and doctors training in general practice.”
