CUSTOMS News Release (Ref:NAT 17/08) issued by The Government News
Network on 10 April 2008
HM Revenue &
Customs (HMRC) has launched the latest in its series of
award-winning podcasts for tax agents and intermediaries.
In the latest edition, Stephen Banyard, Director of HMRC's
Business Customer Unit, discusses the changes to self assessment
filing deadlines, what this means for agents and clients, how to
avoid penalties, and the support available for online filers. It
can be downloaded for free from the HMRC podcast page at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/podcasts
There is also a free subscription service available, so future
podcasts are automatically downloaded to your computer when
you're online. Full instructions are available on the HMRC
podcast page.
Notes for editors
1. In April 2007, HMRC became one of the first Government
departments to launch a podcast service, designed to make
information available on a wide range of subjects.
2. The success of previous HMRC podcasts was recognised in an
award given to Acting Chairman Dave Hartnett by the Institute of
Financial Accountants (IFA) in October 2007. The award, in the
web/internet category, was voted for by the organisation's
membership made up of accountants and tax practitioners.
