New Winter Opening Times
19 Dec 2011 03:29 PM
Visitors this winter will be able to enjoy more English Heritage properties than ever before and our biggest-ever winter events programme. The opening times of some properties have changed though so please check before you travel.
Winter Weekends
Between now and March 2012, fourteen properties which were previously closed at this time of year will now open their doors. Our ‘new’ winter properties include the ‘secret’ gardens at Wrest Park in Bedfordshire and Birdoswald Roman Fort, high up on Hadrian’s Wall. A full list can be found at the bottom of this page.
Plus, most of our usual winter properties will be open on the weekends, meaning that visitors can continue to enjoy them all year round. This does mean that most properties will now be closed during the week, with restricted access available for special tours and school groups. Make sure to check the opening times of the individual property before you visit.
Specially for English Heritage members, we're expanding our range of free guided tours. This means you can still use your membership to visit properties on weekdays on an exclusive tour if you book in advance.
More Winter Events
In addition, we have expanded our entire winter events programme making it the most packed and exciting one ever. Whether you're looking for family days out, castle sleepovers, garden walks, ghost tours, talks from renowned authors or Christmas fun, you’ll find all this and more at English Heritage properties this winter.
Exclusive members' events
A bumper crop of exclusive events this winter will give members the chance to go behind-the-scenes at fascinating places across the country, from talks by our Chief Executive, Simon Thurley, and special tours with our curators, to the opportunity to take home tips from our gardeners, there's lots of exclusive events to enjoy with your English Heritage membership. Plus with members getting free or reduced price entry to many events, there's never a better time to become a member.
