New system for procurement

25 Jul 2011 11:09 AM

The FSA has switched to a new electronic tendering system for procurement. The first projects being advertised are a survey of campylobacter in chicken and the development of a method for dietary assessment.

Adverts for research and other procurement opportunities will no longer be published on our website. To receive notifications about future procurement opportunities at the FSA, suppliers must register on the new system.

New research opportunities

A survey of campylobacter contamination on fresh whole UK-produced chicken and its packaging is one of the first projects being procured under the new system. The results of the survey will provide a benchmark against which the FSA will be able to measure the success of efforts to reduce campylobacter levels. Applicants will be required to develop a sampling and testing protocol, followed by a survey carried out across the retail sector. The deadline for applications is Tuesday 30 August.

A second project, being commissioned by the FSA in Scotland, is to develop a computerised 24-hour recall method to assess the dietary intake of children and young people living in Scotland (aged 11-24 year old). Applicants with nutrition expertise and proven track record in dietary assessment methodology are invited to complete a pre-qualification questionnaire by Friday 29 July. The full invitation to tender will be sent out to shortlisted applicants.
