Police Officer strength statistics

Scotland's Chief Statistician today published statistics on Police Officer Quarterly Strength which give the number of full-time equivalent police officers employed by the eight Scottish forces.

The key findings are:

  • There were 17,424 police officers (full-time equivalent) in Scotland on June 30, 2010
  • Police officer numbers have increased by 15 full-time equivalent (FTE) officers (0.1 per cent) in the last quarter, from March 31, 2010, and by 145 (0.8 per cent) in the last year, from June 30, 2009
