Register for declaring
the employment of members' close relatives published on-line
A new register
detailing the employment by MSPs of close family members has been
published today on the Scottish Parliament's website.
The move follows an independent review and a parliamentary debate
earlier this year at Holyrood.
The register is a requirement of a new scheme introduced at the
Parliament on 1 October 2008 for reimbursing Members for costs
they incur in carrying out their parliamentary duties.
For the purposes of the scheme and the new register, a close
family member is defined as:
a) a spouse, civil partner or co-habiting partner of the Member
or
b) a parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, sibling,
uncle, aunt, nephew or niece of the Member or of the spouse, civil
partner or cohabiting partner of the Member.
