Hi

Review of online archival resources launched

11 Oct 2011 12:30 PM

As part of its ongoing work with archives, The National Archives is conducting a wide-ranging review of its online resources that documents the country's archival collections and their locations over the next few months.

Launched yesterday (10th October), the Finding Archives review will work with users of the National Register of Archives and the ARCHON Directory, as well as other tools to develop a better understanding of their requirements and how these resources should look and operate in the future.

An online survey is being carried out to ensure that everyone with an interest in these resources has a chance to contribute and a representative sample of stakeholders will be selected for focus groups to explore particular issues in depth. The survey will run from November to December and subsequent work will take place over the next two months. We will continue to give updates throughout the project on our website.

Over the coming months, The National Archives will also conduct surveys on public records held at statutory Places of Deposit and archives of architecture, building and construction firms of which very little information about the extent and locations of these collections is currently known.
