Speech - Launch of Heseltine Review

In a speech at Birmingham Town Hall, Lord Heseltine yesterday outlined the findings of his independent review into the UK’s ability to create wealth.

Times of great crisis evoke memories of a time when this nation stood alone.

“Don’t you know there is a war on?” prodded inactivity into life.

Women flocked to the factories. Land girls heavy lifted on the farms. A generation of volunteers that had never worked before reinforced the social services.
