The FCO university recruitment roadshow

The Foreign Office is visiting universities around the UK to encourage students to think about a career with the Foreign Office.
In September 2011, the Foreign Secretary William Hague delivered a speech setting out his ambition for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to be “the best diplomatic service in the world… that provides the creative and innovative ideas which help Britain to stay ahead and that has all the attributes of a thriving democratic institution that people want to belong to and are proud to work for, that looks after its staff, invests in the next generation of young diplomats and that is a centre for excellence in every way.”
We know that if we want the modern FCO to reflect the very best of 21st Century Britain, we must recruit the best applicants irrespective of background.
Therefore, the FCO is visiting 28 UK universities between 7 - 18 October to talk to students about life in the FCO, and why they should consider a career here.
Foreign Office staff with a variety of experiences from the UK and overseas will be attending the events to share their stories and experiences of a modern, welcoming FCO which is open to change and full of opportunities.
For example, read Angela's account PDF, 230KB, 2 pages of working as the Political and Press Officer at the British Embassy in Beirut and Nikesh's account PDF, 294KB, 4 pages of working on foreign policy and security at the British High Commission in Malaysia.
Students will hear about the FCO recruitment process, ask questions, network and find out more.
