Change Minister Lord Hunt today announced the appointment of
Stephen Barrett and Robert Wright as members of the Civil Nuclear
Police Authority.
The Civil Nuclear Police Authority is the public body which
oversees the Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC). The CNC provides a
dedicated, on-site armed response capability for designated civil
nuclear sites and designated movements of civil nuclear material.
The independent members of the Civil Nuclear Police Authority
provide independent scrutiny of the CNC, and are similar to
non-executive directors of a company.
Lord Hunt said:
"Stephen Barrett and Robert Wright will bring a wealth
of expertise and experience gained at a very high level in their
respective fields. I am confident that they will make a valuable
contribution to this important area of work and am delighted to
welcome them as members of the Authority."

7. The Department of Energy and Climate Change is central to the
UK Government’s leadership on climate change. We are pushing hard
for an ambitious global deal in Copenhagen in December to avert
the most dangerous impacts. Through our UK Low Carbon Transition
Plan we are giving householders and businesses the incentives and
advice they need to cut their emissions, we are enabling the
energy sector’s shift to the trinity of renewables, new nuclear
and clean coal, and we are stepping up the fight against fuel poverty.
