UK Intellectual
Property Office Corporate Plan: Helping Support Businesses Compete
in a Global Economy
An ambitious and demanding programme of work for the UK
Intellectual Property Office (UK-IPO) and its delivery partners is
detailed in the Corporate Plan published on 26 June.
This year's Plan focuses on the major strategic challenges,
and on the steps the UK-IPO will take to ensure it is properly
equipped to meet those challenges.
Minister for Intellectual Property, Baroness Delyth Morgan said:
"As set out in the 'Innovation Nation' White Paper
earlier this year, the Government's goal is to make the UK
the best place in the world to run a creative, innovative
business. Exploiting new knowledge and ideas to develop more
effective products, services, processes and organisations is a
vital step in achieving this goal. This plan sets a very clear
and dynamic programme of activity for the next three years".
Ian Fletcher, Chief Executive of the UK Intellectual Property
Office added:
"We are an information business, and information technology
presents us with a great opportunity to improve the way we work
and provide services in the years ahead". This Corporate plan
gives us the direction necessary to achieve this".
The plan is in a different form to previous years, reflecting the
development of the Government's thinking on IP over the past
two years as well as a different approach to planning our activities.
