Hi

When the inspector calls

3 Dec 2013 02:02 PM
Minister for Natural Resources, Alun Davies, launched an easy-to-read farmers’ guide to inspections at the Winter Fair yesterday.

‘When the Inspector Calls’ will help farmers prepare for an inspection, setting out what they need to do before an inspector calls as well as what will happen during the inspection. The guide also includes a complete range of farm record templates associated with Cross Compliance and Glastir to help farmers successfully maintain their records.

The agricultural industry has been heavily involved in developing the guide, which has been produced as part of the Welsh Government’s Working Smarter initiative that aims to reduce bureaucracy in agriculture and find a simplified and improved way of working.

Speaking at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair to key figures from Wales’s agricultural sector including representatives from the NFU Cymru, Wales YFC, Farmers’ Union of Wales and the Country Land and Business Association, Alun Davies said:

“Inspections can be a stressful time for farmers, who are already busy with a long list of duties each day. That is why we have produced this no-nonsense, easy to read guide, that I hope will be useful to farmers while they are preparing for an inspection.

“This guide has been produced as part of the Working Smarter initiative and I am pleased that nearly two thirds of Gareth Williams’s recommendations are now complete. I believe that the changes we have introduced so far are beginning to make a real and practical difference to rural Wales.

“I would like to thank all those who have provided advice and guidance to help us produce such a useful document.”
