COASTGUARD AGENCY News Release (273/08) issued by The Government
News Network on 22 August 2008
The 36 foot motor
yacht "Seaworks" ran aground very early this morning and
is currently submerged off Zone Point, Falmouth. The yacht, which
was bound for Cross Haven, was carrying 2 crew members at the time
of the incident. Both crew members were safely rescued by the RNLI
Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat, having sustained no injuries from the incident.
The MCA understands the yacht was carrying approximately 250
litres of fuel. There are no reports of any pollution although the
yacht will be closely monitored ahead of any planned salvage
activity. It is currently resting in calm shallow waters close to
the beach and is not considered to be a hazard to shipping.
