Consultation on time off for trade union duties and activities

PCS and other unions have been invited to comment on the revised draft code of practice on time off for trade union duties and activities published by ACAS in December 2008, including the proposed accompanying guide.

The consultation paper combines three documents, namely an introductory note on the need to revise the code of practice, the revised code and the draft guide entitled:

“Developing effective employee representation: A guide to managing provisions for time off, training and facilities”, which covers the right to time off for the “growing variety of non-statutory or voluntary representatives.”

PCS intends to make a submission on both the revised draft code and the new guidance, and branches and groups are encouraged to feed in comments by Friday 20 February 2009.
