Calling all graduates

Crossrail, the new state-of-the-art railway that will cut journey times across London, has launched a new initiative to address future construction skills shortages.

From next year graduates will have the chance to join the biggest construction project in Europe and help transform rail transport in the Capital.

The first successful applicants will take part in a two-year programme undertaking a series of training and work placements to gain a range of experience.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: 'Crossrail already employs over 100 apprentices and is now set to provide an extraordinary opportunity for graduates fortunate enough to be selected for the new scheme.

'London is the place to be and the opportunity to work on a project that will change the face of transport in our great city is one that I am sure will whet the appetite of a horde of applicants.

'The skills developed by those who are selected should set them on course for hugely successful careers.'

Those on the Crossrail Graduate Scheme will receive a unique frontline experience on a major infrastructure project as well as pick up skills that will open the door to a range of future projects and careers.

Successful applicants will have the chance to work alongside project management teams, contractors and designers and will work towards receiving professional chartered status in their relevant field.

If you are interested, graduates can apply from 1 December and the first intake joins the programme from next autumn.

There will be further opportunities for graduates to apply to the scheme over the next four years.
