Protection of Freedoms Act 2012: DNA and fingerprint provisions

The Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 Act came into force on 1 May 2012. In the first section we we explain how the act works and why the police have the right to keep DNA samples. In the second section we explain how the police are following a timetable to remove innocent people’s DNA from the DNA database. Open the attached document to read the following sections.
