PCS members working for Fujitsu have voted in favour of an offer to end a dispute over jobs, pay and pensions.

PCS members had threatened to take industrial action unless their demands were met which would have caused disruption to large scale government IT services in HMRC, ONS and DVLA.

Under the agreement no PCS member will be made compulsorily redundant. The agreement also gives further assurances on pension provision, together with a new collective bargaining agreement that extends to all PCS members.

On pay, the union has managed to secure a pay award for over 80% of its members for 2009, despite Fujitsu’s intention to freeze pay.

Through their determination our members have defended their jobs and working conditions and put the union in a much stronger position to represent them in the future.

Mark Serwotka, PCS general secretary, said: "This agreement yet again shows the value of a strong trade union to workers. We call on Fujitsu and all employers to stop attacking workers’ jobs and focus instead on maintaining high quality jobs and services."
