Princes Gate spring water to boost production to more than 50 million bottles a year

Princes Gate Spring Water Ltd celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with major new contracts that will see its annual production increase to more than 50million bottles.

The company has recently secured new business from Tesco and Makro, along with increased listings from Asda and Waitrose.
Support from the Welsh Assembly Government through the Single Investment Fund has enabled the company to install specialist equipment to increase production to service these contracts.

Ieuan Wyn Jones, Minister for the Economy and Transport, has congratulated the company on its continued growth.

“This is an excellent product – natural Welsh spring water from an organic farm – which is reflected in the major contracts secured by Princes Gate.

“Like a number of high quality products in the food and drink sector from Wales Princes Gate is becoming an iconic brand and it’s good to hear that more and more people around the UK will now be able to enjoy it.

“I am very pleased the Assembly Government has been able to support the company with its growth, which it has achieved despite challenging economic conditions.”

Princes Gate Spring Water was established from a farming diversification project on an organic farm in Pembrokeshire. The family run farm is still operational and the spring water business has thrived from a strong investment programme including a £3m bottling hall in 2004 and now employs more than thirty people local to the area.

Business Development Manager Rachel Evans said:

"We have had fantastic support from the Assembly Government through the Single Investment Fund enabling us to invest in new equipment to expand our capacity whilst also increasing our efficiency giving us a capability of filling 28,000 bottles an hour on one production line alone.

“Since our brand relaunch in 2007 our sales have grown significantly year on year gaining new markets around the UK. We have a strong loyal following who appreciate our commitment to our ongoing environmental policy and dedicated support of the Noah's Ark Appeal and local charities."

To mark its 20 th year, the company is launching a bespoke bottle design which will reinforce the company's environmental credentials and provenance. A major part of the range will be manufactured using 50% recycled materials. The first samples will be displayed at the Food and Drink Expo in March.
