Advisory Committee on Business Appointments – Annual Report and New Members

The Government has today published the annual report of the independent Advisory Committee on Business Appointments.

The report records the advice the Committee gave on the outside appointments which were taken up in 2008-2009 by former Ministers and senior Crown servants within 2 years of leaving government.

The Prime Minister has also appointed four new members to the Committee. Dame Juliet Wheldon, The Rt Hon Lord Lang of Monkton, The Rt Hon Lord MacDonald of Tradeston and Lord Dholakia. Lord Wilson of Tillyorn, the current interim Chairman (since July 2008) stands down from the Committee on 31st July. The new Chair of the Committee will be appointed by the Government shortly.

2. The Advisory Committee on Business Appointments is a non-Departmental Public Body sponsored by the Cabinet Office. Members are appointed by the Prime Minister.
3. For the period of this report the Committee comprised the Lord Wilson of Tillyorn, (Interim Chairman from 22 July 2008), Sir John Belloch (Vice Chairman), Lord Maclennan of Rogart, Lord Morris of Aberavon, Admiral Sir Kenneth Eaton and Sir Bryan Nicholson.
4. Sir John Belloch, Lord Morris and Lord Maclennan stepped down from the Committee earlier this year.
