DCSF publishes annual plan to reduce bureaucracy

The DCSF's Better Regulation Unit has published its annual plan setting out how the Department is working to reduce bureaucracy. The plan summarises current and forthcoming measures, as well as those carried out from May 2005 to December 2009.

The Unit is nearing the end of its five year programme to simplify regulation and administrative burden for the public, private and third sectors. By the time of the next update to the Simplification Plan, it will be looking back over what it has achieved since May 2005.

So far, the Unit has enabled the delivery of more than £26 million of savings. It has also made progress against its target to reduce data requests by 30 per cent, with one third of the savings being delivered before the end of the year, and the rest to follow throughout 2010 and into early 2011.
