Helping you teach the weather

Teaching a complex subject like the weather can be a challenge. This is why the Met Office has a full range of educational web-based resources available, all of which have been tailored to complement school curriculums.

The Met Office supports the Department for Education through the provision of multi-media resources, information and lesson plans relating to meteorology for both teachers and pupils from Key Stages One through to Four.

To enhance our resources we have now produced a new series of weather videos and experiments. The videos range from how to measure rainfall to simple experiments which create clouds, explain friction and demonstrate weather fronts.

The Met Office will also be hosting a series of free video conferences for schools and colleges in England.

Running from November 2012 to March 2013 they offer a unique and interactive aid to learning in the classroom. Each 45 minute presentation is bespoke, tailored around the questions your students want to put to us and is delivered by our own weather and climate experts.

You can find out more about our education resources on the Met Office website.
