Planning Performance Statistics
Updated statistics on planning performance in Scotland have been released today by Scotland's Chief Statistician.
The main findings are:
The amount of planning applications decided by Scotland's planning authorities fell from 54,597 in 2006-07 to 53,389 in 2007-08, and to 47,220 in 2008/09, a fall of 12 per cent from 2007-08 to 2008-09. There was a corresponding fall in the number of applications received in 2008-09 of 15 per cent.
The amount of applications decided within two months fell from 61.0 per cent in 2006-07 to 58.7 per cent in 2007-08, before recovering slightly to 59.0 per cent in 2008-09. Applications decided in under three months followed a similar pattern from 76.0 per cent to 73.7 per cent to 74.9 per cent in 2008-09.
Approval rates of all applications remained greater than 91 per cent in each year.
