Socitm’s Top Talent programme gets off to a great start!

Socitm are very pleased to report that the two day kick off of their pilot Top Talent programme, which they’re running in association with IBM, was an extreme success.

And, the feedback received so far has made it very clear that a private/public sector collaboration like this can really help to nurture leadership talent and identify creative solutions to the business challenges we all face ...

"I was really excited to hear about this course as I believe it will strengthen the IT profession in general and give me the additional tools needed to complete my job in an ever more difficult business climate. What particularly interested me about the course was that it was provided in partnership with IBM, who have for many years been recognised as world leaders in innovation.  I returned to the office from the first training sessions feeling inspired and more confident that I had a better understanding of techniques that leaders use." Glen Holmes, Head of Design & Delivery, Wiltshire Council

"The kick-off session for the programme has been informative and stimulating. It has been beneficial working with a group of participative, like-minded colleagues who have reinforced the fact that we are all sharing similar issues and experiences. The networking opportunity is invaluable." Nadira Hussain, Programme Manager, Athena (on secondment from Tower Hamlets & Socitm Vice President

"This programme is a great opportunity to help me become a better leader.  I'll be able to use the skills from the workshop as well as working with my assigned IBM Executive Coach to develop my skills, to improve my performance in my current role and to give me a great boost in my career."  Steve Grange, Web Project Manager, Cambridgeshire County Council

When chatting to Steve Cliff, IBM's Top Talent Programme Manager, about how he thought the programme's two day induction went, he commented "IBM has a wealth of experience in re-inventing our business model and adapting to change which we are happy to share through a leadership programme like this. But more importantly, we can learn from each other. I personally have found the Top Talent team of people on the programme to be creative, focussed and receptive to new ideas."

This pilot programme will run for a further 6 months, comprising of regular 1-2-1 sessions, mentored projects, group community calls and webinars/briefings.  Delegates will be finally assessed in November and graduate at a ceremony that will form part of Socitm 2012's Awards Dinner (28 November 2012, Birmingham).
