IPCC staff to speak to clubbers in Bedford as part of ongoing witness appeal
Staff from the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) will be leafleting club-goers in Bedford this weekend in their search for witnesses to an incident outside Elements night club in the early hours of last Monday morning.
A 19 year old man was badly injured in the incident involving police and door staff and remains in a very serious condition in hospital.
The IPCC is appealing for any witnesses to events outside Elements nightclub on Mill Street in Bedford between around 1 – 2 am on Monday 6 May to come forward. Witnesses can contact the IPCC on 0800 096 9077 or email Bedford_nightclub@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk A witness appeal board has been placed outside the club.
The injured man is black, 5ft 5ins tall, of muscular build, with short hair and a short beard, and was wearing a white T-shirt and black combat trousers, with black Nike trainers. He is a student living in Bedford.
IPCC Commissioner Mary Cunneen said: "Our investigation into the restraint and arrest of this man is progressing. IPCC investigators will be talking to clubbers outside Elements night club this Saturday night to see if anyone witnessed anything in the early hours of the morning of last Monday 6 May. We have had a limited response so far to our witness appeal and we really need any members of the public who were at Elements or in the immediate area that night to come forward.”
