IPCC Update re N Yorkshire Police recruitment investigation
A misconduct meeting has upheld a case for misconduct against Adam Briggs, the Deputy Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police.
DCC Briggs faced the meeting following an Independent Police Complaints Commission investigation into allegations that he assisted a relative to circumvent part of a recruitment process for police constables run by North Yorkshire Police in February 2010.
The IPCC provided its findings to North Yorkshire Police Authority’s Police Professional Standards Sub-Committee which responded by recommending the DCC should attend the misconduct meeting to answer the allegations.
The meeting was held yesterday (Tuesday 7 December) and decided that DCC Briggs will receive management advice as a result of one aspect of the misconduct being upheld.
The IPCC will not be able to publish detail of its findings or specifics around the aspects of DCC's Briggs case until the misconduct hearing for Chief Constable Grahame Maxwell has taken place.
