Research Highlights Increased Consumer Mobile Engagement

techUK welcomes Oxygen8 report on 'Mastering multi-channel journeys: making engagement'

On Thursday 9 April, Sue Daley, head of big data, cloud and mobile, joined a panel discussion at the launch of the Oxygen8 research report on 'Mastering multi-channel journeys: making engagement pay' held at techUK. Based on a survey of consumers and businesses, the Oxygen8 report highlights the important role mobile devices, application and services are playing in the way UK businesses are connecting and engaging directly with consumers.

As we enter the next wave of the UK's digital revolution, techUK believes mobile services and applications that are enabled by the cloud and accessed via mobile devices will play an increasingly crucial role in the further development of the UK's vibrant digital economy. Understanding how consumers are using different mobile devices before, during and after a transaction and whether consumers prefer to be contacted by SMS, email, or directly via social media are key insights to helping businesses develop innovative ways to engage with consumers.

In the panel discussion, Sue highlighted that mobile technology has become part of our everyday lives both at home, work and on the move. The way in which businesses can now engage and transact with customers using mobile technology is made possible by the communications and technological infrastructure available in the UK. Looking ahead to how mobile services and applications will develop, techUK highlighted that a vibrant and successful cloud computing market will also play a key role in ensuring consumers can continue to engage with businesses using mobile devices and how this engagement will drive economic growth, innovation in mobile technology and services and job creation.
