New National Cyber Security Centre CEO Announced

Recently, Friday 19 April, the NCSC officially announced Richard Horne as the incoming Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Lindy Cameron who stepped down earlier this year.

Richard brings a wealth of experience with him, joining from PwC UK where he chairs the Cyber Security Practice. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of Cyber Security for Barclay’s PLC. During which time, he played a pivotal role in shaping the Cyber Security Strategy during a secondment to the Cabinet Office.

In his new role, Richard will lead the UK’s national authority for cyber security and will continue the NCSC’s mission to ensure the UK is the safest place to live and work online.

The new CEO will also continue to deliver the UK’s National Cyber Strategy, increase cyber resilience and ensure emerging technologies such as AI and quantum are at the core of the UK’s approach to cyber security.

Speaking on the announcement, Richard said:

“It is an honour to become CEO of the NCSC.

“Over the seven years since its establishment, the NCSC has repeatedly shown its world-leading understanding of technology and its unparalleled knowledge of the cyber threat we face in the UK.

“I’m incredibly honoured and excited about leading a globally recognised organisation, its world class experts and leaders into the future whilst helping ensure that our mission is realised.”
