Recruiting an Apprentice
Apprenticeships are structured work-based training programmes designed around the needs of employers, leading to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships are available to both new and existing employees. Government funding is available to train apprentices, providing a low risk, low cost recruitment solution for employers.
Advanced apprenticeship programmes in IT Support and Software Development are available through Baltic Training Services. Apprenticeships are a valuable way for councils, businesses and communities to support entry into employment for young people and improve the technical skills base of a workforce.

The Baltic IT Fundamentals Apprenticeship is an Advanced Apprenticeship that delivers a broad range of soft skills and technical support training to young people keen to gain entry into the IT industry. It includes relevant IT qualifications such as the CompTIA A+, Network+ and Microsoft Windows 8 as well as 1st line technical support skills to add value to both the learner’s development and to the skills base of their employer.
The Baltic MCSA Windows 8 / Server 2012 Enhanced Apprenticeship is an Advanced Apprenticeship that is structured around the highly-valued Microsoft Certification Programme (MCP). For both 1st and 2nd line technical support, this apprenticeship includes networking and server configuration skills, as well as Microsoft training.
For data or network managers and engineers who need to find a simple way of hiring and developing new talent, the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is a certification program for entry-level network engineers that validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks.
The Baltic Cyber Security Enhanced Apprenticeship is a certification program for entry-level professionals in the field of security, one of the fastest-growing fields in IT. The Advanced Apprenticeship covers topics including access control, identity management and cryptography, as well as selection of appropriate mitigation and deterrent techniques to address network attacks and vulnerabilities, currently some of the most important critical principles for securing a network and managing risk.
For project managers and development team leaders who need to find a simple way of hiring and developing new talent, the Software Development Apprenticeship is a broad ranging program for entry-level professionals in the field of software development, including training in some of the most in-demand fields in the industry. The Software Development Apprenticeship covers topics such as event-driven programming, object oriented programming, testing and design, giving learners an overview of the full development life-cycle of a project and establishing best practice and learning skills to enhance their career and support their employer’s needs.
Training is delivered on open courses through Online Live Learning, accessible via PC, tablet or smartphone anywhere in the world. Delegates log in and have a fully interactive learning experience with a real trainer during the scheduled training session. Access to the recording of the Online Live session and the technical Labs are available for revision purposes for six months after the training, maximizing knowledge retention and improving performance in the workplace.
Larger groups of learners from a single employer can be accommodated with bespoke on-site learning by arrangement.

Trainers based around the UK and Ireland deliver remote mentored learning or structured online live learning courses, giving Baltic Training access to a broad range of technically qualified trainers. Baltic’s customers can also access the whole range of training offered through our New Horizons partnership. Popular courses such as the Cisco CCENT or Microsoft Windows 8 MCP are delivered up to twice per month, allowing convenient scheduling for employers.
