PKL supplies catering equipment, temporary kitchens and permanent modular kitchens for hire.

Temporary Kitchens

Temporary kitchens from PKL can be used to provide temporary catering and dining facilities for use when catering facilities are being refurbished. PKL have over 900 portable units in our fleet covering preparation and production kitchens, coldrooms, dry storage, canteen and dishwash units.

For larger scale facilities, we have developed a range of “Proven Packages”, combinations of our production and support units linked together that work effectively as a temporary facility and have been devised from knowledge gained from 1000s of hires.

Temporary units are also supplied for emergencies, for when kitchens have been shut down due to factors such as flood, fire, vandalism or for health and safety reasons.

PKL supply temporary kitchen and catering facilities for events, both within the UK and around the world. We have supplied the complete temporary dining facilities for the athlete’s village for the last three Olympic Games and similar facilities to the Melbourne Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games in Doha. Within the UK we regularly supply to all of the major festivals, large sporting events, music concerts and corporate functions.  


The KitchenPod is a permanent modular kitchen building primarily aimed at the education sector, which can be delivered on the back of a lorry and installed within a matter of hours. KitchenPods are constructed entirely offsite and can be finished externally to match its surroundings. KitchenPods range from regeneration facilities to full-scale production kitchen units.


KitchenFM is a capital free catering equipment and outsourcing solution whereby PKL take ownership of the catering estate and provide a maintenance service, for a single monthly fee. KitchenFM offers a buyback service of the existing kitchen estate while end users can specify additional products from PKL’s portfolio of over 8,000 items of catering equipment. Service and maintenance of equipment is covered with the KitchenFM contract while end users will also receive regular preventative maintenance checks from PKL’s in-house team of engineers.

System Kitchens

System Kitchens are large-scale permanent modular kitchen facilities constructed entirely offsite and are suitable for use as permanent kitchen and dining facilities or as central production units. System Kitchens are entirely bespoke, meaning that they can be built to exact end user requirements, while have a design life of up to 60 years.

Additional Services

PKL offer a complete turnkey solution including a no obligation site survey, risk assessment, method statements and complete project management. PKL have an in-house drawing department to ensure each facility is designed exactly to end user specification while the company operates its own fleet of Hiab lorries for delivery of products. In addition PKL engineers can install, test and commission all kitchen facilities.

Onsite at PKL is “Kit Heaven” the largest test and inspection centre for catering equipment in Europe. All catering equipment going on hire passes through a rigorous test and maintenance programme in kit heaven before it leaves, ensuring it arrives to the end user in the best possible condition. In addition, our Portable Kitchens undergo a 26-stage pre-delivery programme and are “Deep Cleaned” before every hire.

PKL have been an OGC accredited supplier since 1992 while the company has recently gained CHAS accreditation and have a wealth of experience operating within the public sector.
