Expertise
NTR Planning offers a full range of town planning and development consultancy services throughout the UK for public and private sectors. We help clients to achieve their land, property, operational and development objectives through the planning system. We are called upon to lead strategic initiatives and planning applications, co-ordinating essential professional inputs and leading negotiations with the local planning authority. If necessary, our expertise in giving evidence at public inquiry maximises the prospect of success at appeal - we advise and instruct Counsel as appropriate.
We tailor our advice to the specific requirements of the project, taking into account the client’s own knowledge and understanding of the planning system. We have strong professional expertise in key property sections including retail, commercial, industrial, residential, health, education, tourism and leisure, infrastructure, Banks, institutional and public transport sectors.
NTR Planning has developed a particular and wide ranging expertise in coordinating planning matters in the delivery of complex urban regeneration projects. As well as working directly for developers in progressing mixed use development schemes upon sustainable urban sites, regeneration projects include sites with multiple land interests under the Public Private Partnership initiative.
NTR Planning acts for many national retailers, fund holders, asset managers, investors and developers on a diverse range of retail projects. These include retail parks and their extension, retail warehousing, stand alone retail units, audits of property portfolios, mezzanines, town centre schemes, shopfronts and advertisements.
We have been instrumental in helping to formulate national growth strategies for retailers in the light of changing government policy and undertake work through
From forest holiday villages, to health and fitness clubs, golf and leisure resorts, second home holiday lodge developments, new hotels and municipal swimming pools, we take a strong professional lead.
NTR Planning are retained planning consultants to Center Parcs, achieving planning permission for their fifth forest holiday village on the Woburn Estate in Bedfordshire on 370 acres of woodland lying in the green belt. We coordinated, prepared and submitted the planning application and ES for the £350m SnOasis project - one of the largest indoor ski slope proposals in the world. We also act for Celtic Manor Resort, host of the 2010 Ryder Cup.
We have achieved planning permission for prestigious head offices, industrial parks, warehouse and distribution buildings, business premises for expanding companies, trade parks and innovative trade permissions for retail operators. In doing so, we help support the economic welfare of the country.
We also promote commercial and industrial land allocations in development plan documents to help ensure land supply into the future.
We have extensive experience of a wide range of residential and mixed use projects ranging from town centre redevelopments, brownfield regeneration, greenfield sites, conversion of existing buildings and individual bespoke houses in sensitive locations. We have direct experience of working with a number of developers, Housing Associations and landowners seeking to rationalise ownership, release land value and deliver residential supply.
We have considerable experience on a wide range of projects involving heritage assetts. Our clients include those who wish to ‘breathe life’ into listed buildings - to protect and secure their future through reuse, alteration and extension. We also advise on developments near to, or within the setting of, listed buildings that require a sensitive approach to ensure a successful planning resolution. We realize the importance of understanding heritage assetts, their context and the pragmatism required to ensure that appropriate development can proceed.
We act for Universities, Further Education Colleges, Schools and on the Building Schools for the Future initiative. We help education bodies meet their delivery requirements by assisting on asset management, obtaining planning permission for new educational facilities and achieving new uses on surplus land for disposal as part of a structured property strategy.
We have worked for a wide number of healthcare clients both within the public and private sectors on projects diverse in complexity and scale. We have experience of new acute hospitals, diagnostic treatment centres, new primary care facilities, doctors surgeries, mental health institutions and the London Ambulance Service.
We regularly screen proposals in respect of the applicable EIA Regulations. Where previous developments/extensions have been deemed to be EIA development, we have on a number of occasions obtained councils’ agreement that our proposals are not considered to be EIA development. This results in time and cost savings for clients. Where considered to be EIA development, we scope the content of environmental statements (ES), including the crucial ‘scoping out’ of technical disciplines not considered necessary to assess. We also act as EIA co-ordinators ensuring the legal robustness of the final ES.
