How do we achieve minimum dependence on the Grid? We need to be able to figure out what type of system would be needed by following these steps:​ Determine if the roof is suitable, south facing is best. Figure out how much power you need/use currently over the course of a year. Calculate the number of solar panels that would fit on the roof. Calculate the number of batteries you need if any. Select an inverter to suit the power input and demand. Balance the system to maximise its efficiency.
