Carbon neutral transport for all schools

Through a new offsetting partnership initiative Kura are now in a position to offer Local Authorities carbon neutral shared transport from 1st Feb 2022.

Whilst coach and minibus transport is already one of the greenest modes of transport, producing 70% less emissions than the equivalent capacity in cars on the road, without fully electric or hydrogen-fuelled vehicles CO2 is still being produced. Alternative fuels are far from mainstream and as the required investment will take years to bear fruit we have chosen to act now to make a positive difference.

How does it work?

Kura has chosen to offset its residual emissions through international projects that cut carbon and improve lives. Kura is working with leading carbon offset provider ClimateCare to ensure our offset programme is of the highest quality and delivers real impact.

What this means for you

All future Kura home to school transport services and trips will now include carbon offsetting. We will calculate the CO2 produced in running your services and manage the process.  As an alternative option, where you provide your own vehicles and utilise Kura’s software, you can choose to upgrade your package to include carbon offset.

With environmental concerns high on the agendas of parents and pupils, help your schools to stand out from the crowd.

New ClimateCare partnership

Kura is making a climate pledge to both offset its emissions and reduce its carbon footprint:

• Kura is targeting carbon neutrality during 2022 in partnership with its customers and ClimateCare, its new offsetting partner;
• Kura commits to working with all its customers and suppliers to identify how to reduce its emissions to net zero by 2030.

Unavoidable emissions will be offset through Kura via the ClimateCare portfolio, including two world-leading clean cooking projects in Bangladesh and Ghana, which not only cut carbon emissions, helping to tackle climate change, but also improve lives by halving fuel bills for families and reducing exposure to toxic fumes. Additionally, by cutting fuel requirements, the projects reduce deforestation – protecting precious habitat.
