Building Information Modelling
By 2018 Delap & Waller aim to integrate Building Information Modelling (BIM) into all of our project processes. We are fully BIM ready in terms of policy, processes and compliance. Our engineers have the IT experience, software skills and the know-how of working in collaboration with a larger Design Team. Our trained engineers use Autodesk Revit to design 3D visualisations and models, which feed directly into the BIM interface.
We promote a collaborative culture at Delap & Waller and our BIM strategies have been developed with our customers and Design Team partners in mind to ensure maximum coordination. Delap & Waller can deliver significant improvements in cost, value, time and energy efficiency to our clients through active collaboration and the use of open sharable asset information.
We have been working on a number of commercial projects using BIM – some of which are now nearing completion.
Legal
Delap & Waller has a number of qualified and experienced experts in areas of Arbitration, Insurance and Contract Litigation.
We have provided specialist Expert Witness services to a range of insurance companies, legal practitioners, financial institutions and private clients. As qualified engineers we can produce legal reports on a variety of issues ranging from mechanical or electrical damage to properties, planning permission disputes to accident reports. We have been called upon on numerous occasions to provide expert witness testimony at Mediations, Arbitrations and in Court Cases. Our aim in each of these circumstances is to provide factual, unbiased opinions that can be clearly understood by all parties involved.
Sustainability
A balanced ethos in sustainable and social development is a key component in our holistic approach to low energy building designs.
We use passive building architecture, innovative system designs and renewable energy technologies. We cooperate with the overall Design Team to deliver buildings that are fit for purpose, economic to run and designed to exceed the expectations of the client. Our designs enable the client to operate the building effectively, and enjoy the certainty that the technology selected for their servicing solution is socially, economically and environmentally sustainable.
As accredited low carbon designers we have developed our own in-house thermal modelling and simulation resource and continue to develop this through staff training and CPD. Low carbon technology is a vital part of modern design, but it is the act of making sure that real people can accept, understand and operate those technologies economically, that transforms good design into sustainable development. Working with the client and design team our specialists help to formulate passive ventilation strategies and conduct solar studies to create low energy buildings with fewer and smaller Building Services systems.
