About Us
OUR PASSION AS A COMPANY FOR THE WHOLE PROCESS OF DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND INTO MANUFACTURE IS WHAT DRIVES THE BUSINESS FORWARD.
Defence Composites Ltd was incorporated in 2000 and has for over 20 years been introducing a succession of evolutionary and revolutionary products and concepts.
Design and development has been based on the long term defence and manufacturing experience of its founder Craig Mills.
Experience that dates back over 35 years and involves a period as Body Armour Adviser to the NATO Soldier Modernisation Program, and the supply of standard and specialised body armour products to the UK Ministry of Defence and Defence Organisations around the world.
In 2012 Craig was joined by Julia Harbridge FCCA who came to the business as the Finance Director but who is now fully involved in the product development side of the business too, getting involved in the technical projects, certifications and applying her knowledge of business models from 20 years working as an Accountant in practice and helping many other businesses to succeed.
Our Production Manager, who has worked at Defence Composites for over 12 years, together with the majority of our production team have always worked in the manufacturing of protective clothing industry. Being so experienced in the technicalities of the assembly of this style of garment means we can turn our hands to new products very quickly.
Defence Composites' ability to design and manufacture an expanding range of high performance protective materials, body armour, clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) is recognised by a number of high profile industry partners. Our core business is based around stab, ballistic and multi-threat body armour designed for the Police, Security and Defence markets.

Our best-selling shell armour stab vests are manufactured from modified polycarbonate: designed to protect against knives and edged weapons, physical assault, blunt impact weapons and hypodermic needles. We are now using the same range of materials - plastics and composites – and applying our design and manufacturing expertise to develop a new generation of body armour for the Motorcycle, Canine, Equestrian and Extreme sports markets. |

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is designed to protect a worker from a potential hazard within their workplace. This could be anything from gloves and boots to specific clothing required to deal with visibility and chemical hazards or to more physical environments requiring helmets, shields and body armour. |

Defence Composites is developing a rapidly expanding product range by taking advantage of an increasing database of materials related to performance and armour technology. Our research and development is reaching out to new partners in different industries to bring some of the technical science together. |

Our consolidated in-house manufacturing facility produces all types of armour and armour products in one factory. DC have built a manufacturing system and facility that allows the complementary and simultaneous production of different types of hard and soft body armour materials and products. |
