Workman is the largest, independent specialist building consultancy and commercial property managementfirm in the UK. We have specialised purely in these two disciplines throughout our history, offering clients a uniquely focused service. Our team of more than 700 professionals, including 51 Partners, specialise in various disciplines across property management, building surveying, accounting and business management.
The Building Consultancy team of more than 120 building surveyors provide clients with professional surveying services, project management capabilities and due diligence advice, including pre-acquisition surveys and development monitoring.

We project manage schemes ranging from £1m - £50m and undertake development monitoring for schemes of much greater value.
Our Building Surveying services include planned preventative maintenance programmes, dilapidations, alterations, defect diagnosis, CDM, expert witness, party wall awards, land registry plans and reinstatement cost assessments.
Our Due Diligence services include pre-acquisition surveys, vendor’s surveys and a wide range of due diligence roles performed to meet the client’s specific time frames and requirements.
The Building Consultancy team also benefits from collaborating with a number of in-house specialists in our CAD, Placemaking, Environmental, and Health & Safety teams which differentiates our offer from a number of our competitors. In delivering this range of services, our teams combine technical expertise with a commercial understanding of the client’s objectives.

We have or are currently acting for a large number of local authorities throughout the UK including; Aberdeenshire Council, Dorset Council, Northumberland County Council, West Sussex County Council, Kent County Council, Cornwall Council, Pert & Kinross Council, Southwark Council, Notts County Council, Cheshire West Council, Dudley Council, St Helens Town, Watford Borough Council and Gloucester City Council.
In addition to the above, we have recently been appointed to the four-year Procure Partnerships Framework Agreement, through which we will be providing project management, building surveying and principal designer services to local authorities across four regions across the UK.
Through working with these public sector clients we understand the particular commercial requirements of local authority clients, for example around procurement and reporting procedures.
