Live In Care

Who can benefit from Live In Care?

At some stage, ageing adults find it challenging to manage the day to day tasks as they once did. They come to discover their need for additional help and support.

A potential long-term solution to this could be looking into a personalised care and support service that provides reassurance when living alone at home.

Another option could be looking at moving into a care home, where individuals are cared for collectively under set routines in contrast with the personalised care option delivered to individuals in their homes, which is often referred to as live-in care.

According to a survey led by the “Live-in care hub,” 97% of the elderly participants preferred living at home when given a choice. One fundamental reason for this was that it gave them independence, freedom, and a sense of familiarity that, aside from the support from a carer, also helps them easily cope if suffering from conditions such as Dementia or Alzheimer’s.

In particular, when looking at couples, live-in care proves to be the best option to consider when looking to get a care service at home. Because, in most cases, unlike a care home, it allows them to remain together as a loving couple, avoiding the possibility of being split into different sections in a care home.

Furthermore, this care service is a cost-effective option compared to paying for two separate packages in a care home.

In light of the above, live-in care is becoming the most attractive option for individuals who may or currently need this kind of support while continuing to live in their own homes and receiving care, maintaining their independence and enhancing the quality of life.

Companionship

Here to support you

At Lorapat Care Services, we believe that care and support is not about a complex medical need or essential personal care tasks. It is important to live the life that you want, doing the things you love and feeling as yourself as possible. We support you with hobbies and interests, outings or day outs, running errands or just popping around for a cup of tea and a good chat.

Each of our carer is recruited and trained to provide quality companionship services, tailored to your own wants and needs, so you can live a fulfilling and independent life. As a family-run business we can offer continuity of carer so that you can build familiarity and a friendship with your companion. We will endeavour to send you a regular carer to to assist with hobbies, activities and errands so you can develop a relationship that we know you will enjoy.

We  ensure that in order to provide a service that is commendable continuous learning and improvements are required. Our carers will give you care that suits you requirements and lifestyle that way you will lead an independent life.

Your family and friends will enjoy peace of mind knowing that there is a carer from Lorapat care services  who is attending to your needs, while being attentive to you.

We have a strict vetting process and undertake checks to ensure that every one of our carers and companions that visit and support you at home are of the highest quality and will support you with whatever they can to ensure you are living the life that you want to. We check DBS of  every carer. We complete their reference checks so you can have peace of mind.

In a nutshell, at Lorapat  Care Services, companionship service is to provide you with the emotional support and care to help you remain socially active and connected with the community, satisfying your essential needs and consequently combating loneliness.

Palliative Care

Specialist Care

Our approach to providing palliative care at home allows you to stay in the place where you feel most comfortable, surrounded by memories and your loved ones. Our experienced specialist carer will provide one-to-one so you can have specialist support and symptom relief from serious illness, whenever it is needed. Our services are tailored to your needs, whether you are looking for a full-time live-in carer or short visits. We offer a full range of services for people living with illnesses.

We follow the national palliative care guidelines and we cover all aspects of care including pain management, administering medication, cooking meals, and companionship. Our approach of care means we work alongside a number of organisations including your GP, and NHS continuing health care teams, to offer the right level of home care for you and your family.

Effective palliative care requires a broad multidisciplinary approach that includes the family and makes use of available community resources; it can be successfully implemented even if resources are limited.

Palliative care at home can involve:

  • Personal care and assisted living - assistance with bathing, dressing and toileting
  • Continence care - changing continence pads or managing a stoma or catheter
  • Medication support - administering medication as prescribed
  • Pain management
  • Help around the home - moving around the home through gentle support or hoisted transfers, housekeeping duties
  • Meals preparation - preparing your meals to your tastes and washing up afterwards
  • Pet care - feeding and walking
  • Running errands - food shopping or collecting prescriptions
  • Companionship - supporting your independent living at home.

Errands and Shopping

Everyday assistance

We provide services to assist with your day-to-day life, whether you are too busy to pop out to pick up your prescription or have an urgent errand that needs running. With special attention to only helping with the aspects you want by adapting to your changing needs, our support can make the world of difference.

Shopping

Doing a weekly shop is an essential part of many routines but can also be a long and laborious process that many could do without. Your personal assistant can help with picking up a few essential items and can even accompany you to large supermarkets. Not only this, a casual day out browsing your local shops can be an even more enjoyable activity when there’s someone to share this with.

Attending appointments

Medical appointments can be stressful and fast-paced, so it can feel like you do not have time to take in all the information. It can be beneficial to have another person there to have a second pair of ears to pick up more details. They can also simply be there to offer companionship as you sit in the waiting room.

Picking up prescriptions

Remembering to order your long-term prescription and getting to the pharmacy can sometimes be difficult to fit into your week. The stress of running out of your medication can be alleviated by knowing you have the option of someone else picking it up for you. With your instructions, a personal assistant will be able to travel to your pharmacy and have your medication waiting for you when you get home.

Concierge services

Booking travel, making dinner reservations and providing information about local attractions are all things we can assist with. You may have a special occasion coming up which you need help organising or want to arrange a weekend away with a loved one. An assistant can be there to go over the finer details and make the important phone calls for you.

Admin and letter writing

Letters from internet providers, energy providers and the bank can pile up and seem unmanageable without someone to help you go through them. Your personal assistant can support you by organising and prioritising important documents and writing return letters if required.
