Brexit: sanctions policy report debated by Lords

On Thursday 3 May the House of Lords debates the European Union Committee's report, Brexit: sanctions policy.

The EU External Affairs Sub-Committee investigated the options for UK co-operation with its international partners on sanctions policy after Brexit. The report concluded that the effectiveness of UK sanctions will be undermined unless the UK can quickly agree arrangements for future sanctions policy co-operation with the EU. Without this, the UK could be left with the choice of imposing less effective unilateral sanctions or aligning with EU sanctions it has no influence over.

Speakers in the debate

  • Baroness Verma, Chair of the EU External Affairs Sub-Committee, will open the debate on Brexit: sanctions policy.

Other Members of the House of Lords who are due to speak in the debate can be viewed on the Speakers' List.
