CBI responds to the Government's Social Mobility Strategy

Neil Carberry, CBI Managing Director for People policy, commented on the launch of the Government’s Social Mobility Strategy

"The launch of the social mobility strategy is positive progress. The focus on raising aspirations and attainment in all parts of the country, and particularly early years literacy, is welcome.

"Introducing dedicated careers leaders and measures for teacher retention, which the CBI called for, should help struggling schools and give careers inspiration much needed prominence.

"Businesses must play their part – supporting local schools, providing work experience and encouraging talented people from all backgrounds. So making the partnership approach with business a practical reality is vital."
